The Celts

Celtic society is class conscious with Kings, nobles and the rest. Their bards are full of tales of female warriors (including Queens), but you would be hard pressed to find any in their current society. Interestingly the Celts distinguish between a female ruler – a Queen – and a woman married to a King – she remains a Princess. Royal marriages are political, and marriage between Nobles and commoners are considered scandalous. Besides royal guards, their armies are nearly exclusively raised-as-needed from the general populous. That makes for a society that values the warrior ethos as well as one where loyalty is expected.
